Thousands of pro-lifers are expected to gather for the annual March for Life, which is taking place on Saturday 5 September in central London.
Estimates suggest that over 10,000 people attended last year’s March, and this year it looks like it will be even bigger.
Starting in the Emmanuel Centre in central London at 10.30 am, the March will host a ‘Pro-life Family Summit’ with many interesting and informative talks planned. There will also be merchandise stalls, pro-life organisations and exhibitions, a creche with a play area and crafts, face painting, and a cafe. Right To Life UK will also have a stall at this event.
Following the morning events, the March itself will begin at 1.30 pm at Tufton Street, just behind the Emmanuel Centre, ending with a rally in Parliament Square at 3.00 pm.
Keynote speakers at the rally will include Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, co-director of March for Life UK, who became the first person in Britain to be charged under new buffer zone laws for silently praying outside an abortion clinic.
Growing year on year
The March for Life began in Birmingham in 2013 with just a few hundred attendees. Since then, the March has grown steadily, so much so that it relocated to London in 2018 and has been held there ever since.
The March draws pro-life people from all over the country and gathers together pro-life groups to showcase their work and galvanise support. The March ends with a rally outside the Houses of Parliament and acts as a powerful demonstration to UK lawmakers that many members of the public want to see a change in our abortion laws.
