2023 sponsored walks

Monday 8 May 2023 – Ribble Valley Walk for Life

The Christian Heritage Centre, based at Stonyhurst College, has kindly organised a sponsored walk along the Tolkien Trail in the beautiful Ribble Valley.

He is said to have been inspired by the wooded landscapes and the countryside of the Ribble Valley around Stonyhurst when he was writing The Lord of the Rings. The video below features some of the stunning scenery in the region.

The day will begin at 2pm with a speech before everyone departs on a shortened version of the Tolkien Trail at 2.30pm – before returning to Theodore House between 4.30-5pm.

For those who wish to attend, the Rt. Rev. John Arnold, Bishop of Salford will preside over adoration and benediction at St Peter’s Church, Stonyhurst at 5.15pm. Lord Alton of Liverpool will also give a reflection.

Refreshments will then be served at 5.45pm at Theodore House, Stonyhurst.

If you are travelling from out of town, Theodore House is offering a 10% discount on their B&B accommodation. To book, email bookings@theodorehouse.com quoting “RightToLife”.
