Stop the assisted suicide Bill returning on Wednesday

The Labour MP for Rochester and Strood, Lauren Edwards, has announced that she intends to use her number two slot in the Private Members’ Bill ballot to bring back Kim Leadbeater’s assisted suicide Bill.

There has been a massive backlash from a large number of her fellow Labour MPs and other commentators after she signalled her intention to bring back the Bill.

Edwards does not have to formally present her Private Members’ Bill in the House of Commons until Wednesday lunchtime, 17 June.

That means there is still time for MPs to urge her to choose a different Bill instead.

TAKE ACTION

It’s important that MPs see that their constituents are very unhappy with Lauren Edwards’ plan to bring back the assisted suicide Bill.

We need MPs to encourage her, ahead of the Wednesday lunchtime deadline, to bring forward an alternative Private Members’ Bill that would unite her constituency and the country, rather than a divisive and dangerous assisted suicide Bill.

We have just launched a new tool that enables you to write to your MP about this now, and it’s really important that your MP receives as many emails as possible before Wednesday lunchtime.

This matters for two reasons. First, it increases the chance that Lauren Edwards changes her mind before the deadline. Secondly, if she does not change course, it will help ensure MPs see, from the very beginning, that there is strong and serious concern from their constituents about the dangerous Bill being brought back.

Even if you have already contacted your MP about why the Bill should not be revived, it’s really important to write again using this new tool.

Please click the button below to contact your MP now. It takes just 30 seconds.

Thank you so much for all your help.
