Find out how your MP voted on assisted suicide and send them a follow-up email

Last Friday, MPs voted by 286 to 270 to defeat the Edwards assisted suicide Bill. Thank you again for everything you did to help make this remarkable victory possible.

In our update after the vote, we said that Parliament must now come together to improve palliative, hospice and social care.

Today we are getting in touch to ask you to take an important positive follow-up action.

We have just launched a new EasyAction email tool that shows you how your MP voted on Friday 11 September and prepares a tailored email for you to send, based on their vote.

If your MP voted against the Bill, the email thanks them for their vote and asks them to help Parliament improve palliative, hospice and social care.

If your MP voted for the Bill or did not vote, it asks them to join colleagues across Parliament in making high-quality care available to everyone who needs it – and not to support further attempts to introduce assisted suicide during this Parliament.

WHY THIS MATTERS

MPs often hear from constituents when they are being asked to oppose something. It is just as important following a vote that MPs who took a stand to hear that their constituents noticed and are grateful.

Whichever way your MP voted, they now need to hear that defeating this Bill should be followed by a positive commitment to improve palliative, hospice and social care.
