The Leadbeater assisted suicide Bill is currently progressing through the House of Lords. It is vital that Peers are made aware of the many risks and flaws of the Bill, which is why your voice matters more than ever.

Despite the Bill passing its Third Reading in the House of Commons on 20 June by just 23 votes (314–291), a significant reduction from its 55-vote majority at the Second Reading, it has limped into the Lords with a very narrow majority.

Because it is neither a Government Bill nor part of any manifesto, the Lords are fully entitled to heavily amend, time-out, or outright reject this dangerous Bill.

This means the Leadbeater assisted suicide Bill can still be defeated.

It is therefore vitally important that Peers in the House of Lords are made aware of the many problems with the Bill and how introducing assisted suicide would put vulnerable people at risk. Unlike MPs, Peers do not represent constituents and are not elected by the public. This means that communication to Peers needs to be prudent, measured, and focused.

This updated simple tool enables people like you, who are concerned about the assisted-suicide Bill, to generate personalised letters to Peers – each focused on one area of concern. You then print, sign, and post them.

With this new version of the tool, you can write to more than three Peers at once.

While emails play a crucial role in modern advocacy, sending a physical letter carries a unique weight, especially with Members of the House of Lords. A printed, signed letter is a tangible, personal form of communication that is often viewed by Members of the House of Lords as more deliberate and impactful, making it harder to ignore.

Enter your postcode above to get started and write to members of the House of Lords explaining why they should oppose assisted suicide.
