Vote APPGDyingWellMeeting

The recently launched All-Party Parliamentary Group for Dying Well will host their inaugural event for MPs and Peers on Wednesday 12 May, where they will hear from leading experts in palliative care on the latest developments in end-of-life care and why the UK should not legalise assisted suicide.

Speakers will include Professor Katherine Sleeman, the Laing Galaska Chair in Palliative Care at King’s College London, National Institute for Health Research Clinical Scientist, and Honorary Consultant in palliative medicine and Dr Carol Davis, a Consultant in Palliative Medicine and Clinical End of Life Care Lead, University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Dying Well is meeting at a critical time. Last month, the All-Party Parliamentary Humanist Group requested an enquiry into whether assisted suicide should be made legal despite its consistent rejection by Parliament and the judiciary. More recently, the Secretary for Health and Social Care Matt Hancock attended a meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Choice at the End of Life and discussed how the Government could gather more evidence on the issue.

The APPG for Dying Well stands against the legalisation of assisted suicide and instead promotes access to excellent palliative care. This meeting will inform your local politicians of the options for improving access to excellent end-of-life care for everyone, and warn them of the dangers of legalising assisted suicide in the UK.

Please enter your postcode in the box above to email your MP requesting they attend the meeting on Wednesday 12 May so they can hear the expert evidence on the latest end-of-life care developments and why the UK should not legalise assisted suicide.
