While the Bill passed its first hurdle last year, the vote was far closer than many commentators expected.
An analysis published in The Independent shows that at least 36 MPs who supported the Bill made it clear they did so only to allow further debate or because they had concerns that mean they won’t commit to supporting the Bill at Third Reading.Â
With the vote last year passing by a margin of 55, just 28 MPs switching their stance to oppose the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill would ensure it is defeated at Third Reading.
With more time to understand the major issues with legalising assisted suicide, many other MPs could also shift to opposing this Bill. If enough do, the Bill will be defeated at Third Reading, preventing this dangerous law change from becoming law.
Your MP needs to know there are a large number of people in their constituency who continue to be strongly engaged on this issue and that you want them to oppose the Leadbeater assisted suicide Bill at Third Reading.
That is why it is vital that your MP hears from you now asking them to vote NO at Third Reading.
Please enter your postcode in the box above to find out how your MP voted and ask your MP to vote NO at Third Reading.
