Baroness Barker and colleagues have brought forward a series of amendments (12,19,21 and 24) to the Northern Ireland Bill in the Lords which will make Stella Creasy’s abortion amendments from the Commons far worse.
These are likely to be voted on in the Lords this afternoon (17 July) at Report Stage.
This amendment introduce abortion on demand, for any reason, up to 28 weeks to Northern Ireland. Almost all legal safeguards around abortion would removed.
If this amendment is passed, this would leave Northern Ireland with one of the most extreme abortion laws in the world. 100,000 people are alive today because of Northern Ireland’s pro-life laws. It is vital that this amendment does not pass.
