The Scottish Government’s latest flirtation with abortion law reform goes far beyond what most Scots recognise as humane, or remotely proportionate.
The proposals, which have sparked backlash from even the most unlikely feminist corners, would make it easy to access abortion all the way up to birth, even for mere social reasons – including wanting a son instead of a daughter. The UN Expert on Violence Against Women & Girls has raised alarm at such a prospect, alongside leading feminists like Julie Bindel and Professor Kathleen Stock.
