We are getting in touch with an urgent and very important update.
In less than 24 hours – tomorrow, Tuesday 17 June – MPs will vote on two extreme abortion law changes.
The first (Tonia Antoniazzi’s amendment) would change the law so that it would no longer be illegal for women to perform their own abortions up to birth.
The second (Stella Creasy’s amendment) would go much further. As you may have seen in The Telegraph this morning, it would allow abortion clinics around the country to perform abortions on demand, for any reason, including sex-selective purposes, at any stage, right up to birth.
This would leave us with the most extreme abortion law in the world.
Thousands more precious lives would be ended through abortion if this amendment passes.
This is the most significant vote on abortion in a generation – and it is happening in under 24 hours.
We must ensure that both of these horrific amendments are defeated when they go to a vote tomorrow.
TAKE ACTION
It is important that MPs know what both of these amendments would mean in practice, as Stella Creasy is cleverly framing her amendment as a proposal that wouldn’t change the abortion time limit.
But the article in The Telegraph shows that this is not the case, and it would allow babies to be aborted for any reason, including sex-selective purposes, at any stage, right up to birth.
We have updated the email tool to explain this new development so that MPs know what is really at stake tomorrow.
Even if you have emailed your MP on these amendments before, it’s really important you send this new email to your MP right now. Your MP needs to receive your email tonight before the vote tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday).
Please take action and click the button below to contact your MP using the newly updated tool. It will only take 30 seconds of your time.
Once you have sent your email, I need you to take one more important action.
Please forward this email on to at least ten people who can help out by contacting their MP.
We need to ensure MPs receive a massive flood of emails ahead of the vote tomorrow.
The best way you can do that is by forwarding this email so that many more people can contact their MPs tonight.
I want to emphasise how important the vote tomorrow is – so anything you can do now to encourage more people to contact their MPs will make a difference.
Many thanks for your help on this.
