Breaking: Forsyth amendment not taken to a vote

We just wanted to share some good news with you.

The Committee Stage debate on Lord Forsyth’s assisted suicide amendment to the Health and Care Bill has just ended and he has decided not to take his amendment to a vote.

There was a really good turnout of Peers who spoke in opposition to the amendment this evening – thank you to everyone who contacted Peers asking them to speak against this dangerous amendment.

Unfortunately, this is likely not the end for this amendment. The Health and Care Bill will shortly move onto Report Stage where there is still the risk that Lord Forsyth will retable his amendment.

If the amendment is retabled, we will be in contact to let you know what you can do to help ensure it is not successful.

In the meantime, thank you again for all your help on achieving this good outcome this evening.
