On Friday Mrs Justice Lieven ruled that a woman with a learning disability must be forced to have a late-term abortion at 22-weeks against her will.
On Monday, the mother of the woman had to go to the Court of Appeal to seek to have the decision overturned to stop the forced late-term abortion. Thankfully, three Court of Appeal judges ruled that doctors must not perform an abortion on the woman.
While this is a good outcome, this horrific original ruling should never have happened in the first place. It is totally unacceptable that a mother had to go to the Court of Appeal to stop the state forcing a late-term abortion on her daughter.
This is not a one-off case. Women are being forced by hospitals to have abortions and this must stop.
Please use the form below to write to your MP asking them to write to the Secretary of State for Health, Matt Hancock, asking him to outline how many women have been forced by hospitals to have abortions and that he urgently outline a plan to ensure that no woman is ever forced by a hospital to have an abortion in the UK ever again.
