Ask your MP to attend a Parliamentary event on reducing the abortion time limit

Next Tuesday (24 May) the All-Party Parliamentary Pro-Life Group will host an event  at Parliament for MPs on the compelling case for reducing our abortion time limit.

Dr John Wyatt, Emeritus Professor of Neonatal Paediatrics, Ethics & Perinatology at University College London and senior researcher at the Faraday Institute for Science and Religion, Cambridge, will discuss the evidence in support of lowering the current time limit on abortion.

Many people we have spoken to have been surprised to hear that the British time limit on abortion is far more extreme than the majority of countries in the European Union, where the median time limit for abortion on demand or on broad social grounds is 12 weeks.

This compares to our time limit for mental health grounds, which is interpreted by abortion providers to allow abortion on broad social grounds, which currently sits at 24 weeks.

There is also broad public support among women for reducing the abortion time limit, with polling from the BBC’s pollster, Savanta ComRes, showing that 70% of British women favour a reduction in the time limit from 24 weeks to 20 weeks or below.
