The public are being “scared” into supporting assisted suicide by hearing about cases of end-of-life suffering, doctors have warned.
A survey by the Association of Palliative Medicine (APM), published on Wednesday, found doctors are increasingly concerned that there is too much focus on “negative” and “traumatic” cases, while ignoring “good palliative care and good deaths”.
Of the almost 300 APM members surveyed, more than two-thirds said they believed that some patients and families think they are already practising “covert euthanasia”.
