Jim Dobbin KSG MP, RIP: An Obituary by RTL Trustee Chris Whitehouse
The Tablet has published an obituary of the late Labour MP Jim Dobbin, by RTL Trustee (and friend of Jim) Chris Whitehouse, which you can read here.
Other obituaries for Jim have also been seen in the Guardian, Telegraph, and Times (£), and former fellow MP Sir Tam Dalyell has also paid tribute in the Independent. This all in the wake of the accolades given for Jim by the Leader of the House (William Hague), and the Deputy Leader of the Opposition (Harriet Harman), as they stood in for the party leaders campaigning in Jim’s native Scotland (for the ‘Better Together’ campaign in the Scottish referendum) at Prime Minister’s Questions this Wednesday.
As so often, a fuller sense of the virtue of a person is only seen after they have died. At RTL, we are very heartened by the recognition accorded to our old friend and colleague, even whilst still mourning his passing. May his memory long be honoured.
Jim was hugely grateful to Right To Life for the support we gave to the All-Party Parliamentary Pro-Life Group throughout the period during which he served as its Chair and then Co-Chair, a position which he still held when he died. If you would like to see that support for the Group continue, then please do consider making a donation to our Political Fund in memory of Jim. You can do so on our donate page, here.
